When homeowners approached Miami-based designer Deborah Wecselman to redesign their family's condo, they requested a look that deviated from the often bold, vivacious hues seen in Miami décor. Instead they opted for something both soothing and stylish that also highlighted the breathtaking views. Wecselman satisfied their request by translating inspiring elements from Mother Nature into indoor living spaces.

The family room, one of the more casual spaces in the home, summons relaxation courtesy of a cabana-striped daybed, seagrass rug, woven furnishings and outdoor fabrics.
"The key to not going 'overboard' in coastal decor," Wecselman explains, "is to use lightweight fabrics like linen and use natural materials like raffia and other materials with a woven look and texture."

The master bedroom is a balance of masculine and feminine elements. Drapery panels soften the lines of the canopy bed while Barbara Barry's Dressmaker's Lamp in bronze adds an hourglass contour to the nightstand.

As an alternative to traditional dining chairs, Wecselman inserted a pair of upholstered benches under a custom walnut dining table for added flair. The reflective stainless-steel base counters the heaviness of the wood and takes full advantage of the ample sunlight from surrounding windows and the floor mirror.

A custom-paneled door ushers you into a spa-like powder bath complete with honed travertine mosaics, stone basin and candlelit sconces.

Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel The photos were over-styled with a plethora of accessories. What's the point of a table smack in the middle of the entry? The first living room is nice, minus the hugely over-scaled vases with sticks. That green/white/black room: are you saying it's classic or modern? I do not see a cohesive or even harmonious design flow here.

Mona Lisset The living room is a little busy. Are these all rooms in the same house? It's hard to tell by the different designs; they are very pretty though, so if it works for the inhabitants that's all that really matters!

kirb personally i Thought each room had great color scheme and lots of texture especially # 4, and i love the uses of greens in the #3 It all feels very earthy. I also think that if people who are proud enough of their designs and want to share them with us, the least we can do is find some thing nice nice to say or don't say anything at all. I see no need to be nasty. To each his own as they say!
