Holiday Decorating Ideas from the Atlanta Holiday House (7 comments)

Last week I hit the Atlanta Holiday House over in Buckhead. The place is bananas - it is a 22,000 square foot, $14,000,000 spec faux chateau, and it was all dressed up for the Christmas holiday by many sought-after Atlanta designers. The decorations were the finishing touch upon $2,500,000 worth of furnishings.

The designers at the holiday house had many innovative holiday decorating ideas. I especially liked all of the different versions of Christmas trees, whether it was bare branches from a hardwood tree or a dress form in the laundry room (oh, I stopped counting laundry rooms at the fourth one - can you imagine?).

I'll share some more of the interior design of the holiday house in another ideabook, but for now, I'll just show you how it's done here in the South. We don't do anything halfway, well except picture taking - I was running late and forgot my camera, so these shots are from my phone. Sorry for the lackluster quality.

I should also mention that all of the proceeds from Holiday House go to The Save a Smile Foundation.
This bare hardwood tree was one of my favorite pieces in the whole house. The ornaments were beautiful and the whole effect was breathtaking.

This sweet little tree was in a bedroom (I believe; it's all kind of a blur at this point).

This metal tree sculpture will work well in the house all year long, and during the holidays it's decked out.

This little tablescape was in a very cute little girl's room.

Think outside the vase: This wine bottle (in the wine tasting room, which is right next to the wine cellar, thank you very much) held a lovely arrangement.

Spreading greens and red berries around shelves and objects is always a nice touch.

Mirrors are a great place to hang garlands. Aren't these silver birds beautiful?

Yes, so if you run out of places to put decorations, there's always the toilet tank...

There were quite a few outdoor rooms, complete with fireplaces. All of the mantles were covered in greens.

I wish I had an outdoor fireplace. The photo with the outdoor tree near the fireplace is beautiful. Thanks for sharing all these great ideas.

Anny, I know, I am super jealous. Can you imagine if one person tried though - just the trees in the multiple outdoor rooms alone would have killed me.

I still want to do an all-robot tree with the ornaments from Paper Source someday!
It's gorgeous! nothing like that for putting you in the mind to decorate... decorate... decorate... for Christmas!
