There are two camps on the bed styling front: those who hate the fuss of accent pillows and those who prefer a more put together bed. I think that a happy medium can exist between the two.
You can have a stylish bed without putting a lot of effort into it. A few accent pillows and little attention to placement go a long way. Try mixing solid colors with patterns, play with different ways of stacking pillows, or combine various sizes in similar tones. Have fun with it, they are just pillows after all!
Roberta Philbrick Love all the black with bold accents in these bedrooms. My headboard is black and my linens are black, white with chartreuse green...lovely ;)
shellie jernigan i love the colorful upholstered headboards! gorgeous pops of color; and no need for a ton of pillows bombarding the bed. (I am a HUGE pillow fan, but must learn to use pillow restraint!)
lmacedo Love, love, love this segment! You've done a great job putting it together. I think I tagged all the photos for my idea book! I love the upholstered headboards, the sophisticated and clean lines of the rooms, and the use of color. It's amazing what a "finished" bed can do to a bedroom!
nanhow I cannot find a bedspread or comforter wide enough to come down over my deep mattress. Surely this is a problem that other people have. What do you do with this problem
luckykats nanhow - I've got the same problem. Any one know of any budget friendly bedspreads that solve this? I know you can get custom bedding made to any dimension, but I'd prefer not to spend a fortune on something that I'm probably going to want to change out in a few years. I have a King sized duvet that I can change covers on, but it doesn't even come close to covering the sides and bottom of my deep mattress.
Erika Ward - Erika Ward Interiors You can never go wrong with a standard stack, especially in a guest bedroom. For the master I prefer that upright stack. Thanks for the variations in style.
Linda McMahon I am experiencing a pillow dilemma at the moment. I have one lovely red "rosebud" pillow from Pier 1 on my bed and I'm not sure which pillows to add to it. Also there is no art on my walls, the pictures are on the floor leaning against my wall. Sigh...where is a handyman when you need one.
Becky Harris As someone who has TONS of accent pillows on all the beds in my house, I still always have Ben Stiller in "Along Comes Polly" when I think of bed throw pillows, carefully taking 20 OCD minutes to put them all in an armoire! To me though, these examples seem worth the trouble!
