Dogs, dogs and more dogs have been on my mind since I recently brought home my new French bulldog puppy! Here are some stylish gifts for all the other dog lovers, with a few thrown in for your sweet pup for good measure. — Gloria from Little White Whale
My puppy loves to watch pigeons and cars pass by, but the windows in my apartment are much too high for his short legs. He'd be in heaven if this was installed in the living room wall.
zealart The dog peak is awesome. My dog would love it in the wall too. I'd never pay that much for that decal. Not very attractive, nor creative and just too expensive. But the dumbest one is the tennis ball bed for $300. It doesn't look comfortable, the smell of tennis balls isn't great, and it can probably be recreated for much cheaper.
wordings The tennis ball bed would either: 1. get instantly destroyed or; 2. give my dog, and most others I know, a nervous breakdown. I have a better idea: squirrel-shaped kibble!
Nothing beats the real thing when it comes to pooches--I could never live a dogless life, nor would mere effigies suffice. But I do have a collection of vintage Scottie dog prints. As I own Scotties (and they me) it was inevitable.
lotuspetal Most of these items weren't for the dogs, but for people. The lamp with the "cone of shame" makes my hair stand on end. Not nice. The dog peek was the only truly dog oriented innovation.
seattlegirl I like the dog peek also and even the puppydog tail hooks are okay. Both are at least functional and attractive. The rest for me is unattractive "dog themed" clutter. I suppose might be appealing in small doses to someone who doesn't actually have dogs, but afraid I don't see the point. And I love dogs and design.
dlgiven I'm looking for a clear vinyl shower curtain with all different kinds of dogs. I have one now that is probably 6 years old and can't find a replacement. Any ideas where to get one?
aingael I have a problem with the vase...Really, you want me to put my flowers down the neck of a decapitated dog??? Who thought this up?! I've always told my husband never to buy me cut flowers, but potted instead, because cut flowers are dead. I tell him it's like saying " I love you so much I cut the head off a puppy and brought it to you." This vase just proves that point.
Kate Roselund I know what the inside of my car windows look like after a ride, I can just see the inside of that dog peek after something interesting walked by! Bleh!!
jinglebelle I agree with most of the criticisms given. Headless items, or disembodied heads, always give me the creeps. The dog balloon bank is cute but overpriced. The worst deal is the flocked wallpaper at $260 a roll!!! Designers have their heads in the clouds, and their ideas aren't ususally practical, attractive, or affordable.
kathyjmw For heaven's sake. If something is too expensive for you, don't buy it. The point is to see what's out there. If you have some great ideas for dogs or their people, please include it and/or a photo in your comment.
tlkay If you prefer kids, why are you at this site?? Oh, your a christian and everyone needs to know it, your voice is the only one that counts. Tiresome really, it is a dog site not a religious site.
patscats2 Actually I give equal time to my dogs and cats because they are my kids. Sorry if that offends some people, but that's too bad.. Being a Christian and not caring about animals is a contradiction to what God teaches us. I always say there is a special place in hell for people who don't love animals. Like kids, they are one of the most spectacular gifts given to us. Like kids they are innocent and deserve our love and protection. If that offends anyone, tough cookies. We are so blessed that we are able to live side by side with them and share their world like they share ours. People who don't have animals in their life are suffering a huge void, but they don't even realize it.
