jeg700 700 Bold look those black doors, but no one mentioned how high maintenance black is...as much as white, I assure you! Every speck of dust shows up on black in a home...and you can't get rid of ALL the dust...ever!

Maureen Kocsis I have always had a black door and I'm sharing a secret with you....My painter always put a coat of marine poly to top it off. This is used on boats. It protects it much more than plain poly. Fabulous shine.....FYI

Creative Decor by Mandi :) I didn't ask my husband ...just bit the bullet and did it! He would have questioned it for sure but I knew the results would be fabulous so I tackled it on my own. The interior of our entry door was white and showed so many scuff marks from shoes and paw prints...I was constantly washing and retouching it. Now that they are black, no marks and they look great all the time...dust is no issue. The black paint really made the neutral entry pop and added a touch of elegance. I just love it and my husband hasn't told me I was wrong.

lauriebwilliams Sorry. Can't rotate these. I think the black doors make the ceilings seem taller. I painted 2 in a guest room to start out and see if I like them and I do. This is a before and after.

bellasmile2 I painted all our cottage interior doors black. The walls are all light in color. My husband was very hesitant. Now, he loves them and so do I. Best decision!! PS, no dust on the doors, no fingerprints, easy.

heidihessgriffeth I repainted all our interior doors gloss black last year and just love how they look. Contrary to many people’s comments about dust, they don’t seem to show that much, and the punch they add to the decor is worth it!

julie33 I love the glossy black doors, but I'm thinking about painting my 1963 hollow doors all in black chalkboard paint. Any thoughts? It will be --of course-- very dull, which is why I hesitate. There are 5 total in my hallway.

modernistmaude Our 2 pack gloss front entrance door really makes our glass pop, looks gr8 with blonde wood floors and white walls. You do have to watch warping from sun/heat for external doors (here in Oz anyway). Australian Door manufacturers void your warranty if the door is painted in dark colours.

snikalfritz LOVE LOVE LOVE the black doors!!! I am making plans to do this asap!! Question though, re: door handle/knob, looks like everyone is going with brass or chrome, I already have oil rubbed bronze levers on my doors. Should I change them?

billyl We are building our new house right now and we had our interior doors painted black. We are using ORB hardware on everything in the house. The doors are painted but the hardware is not on yet.

beachinmom I am hesitant to paint black, although i totally love the look. How does it work w/ chocolate brown? That is one of the main colors in my fabrics and sofa's. I just don't know how ok it is to mix the two?

crazyhen I was thinking about chocolate brown as well I think it would look just as stunning. please put a pick up so I can see it I will post one when i do it Probably in the next 6 wks as I am remodeling now.

lpass Painted all interior doors (including closets and bathrooms) black and changed hardware from ugly 80's brass to brushed nickel. LOVE IT. The black gives it a bit of a sophisticated look. My husband wasn't sure, but he now pats me on the back on a regular basis and says how much he loves the look. We have a cape cod/ colonial in CT with mainly beige/neutral walls and white trim inside. I've always loved the combo of khaki and black in clothes, so I guess I love it as much in my house!

tinylove22 Love the idea! My enter way is too small, there is a white slide doors closet, powder room door, main door and garage door in white. Ceramic floor in black. I was thinking of painting the door black, but would that be too much black since the floor is that dark too?
