The conversation and emails that the first Skinny on Trims ideabook prompted tells me that perhaps I'm not the only one who gets stumped on trims and mouldings. As Nicolette, who thankfully prompted the first ideabook, said, it's these kinds of small details that make or break a room.
In the first look on trims and mouldings, we focused mostly on variations of traditional white trims, from thick and ornate, to modern and sleek. But some of the most successfully unexpected looks in rooms are thanks to thinking outside of the box (or window frame).
Consider playing up the natural wood of your space, consider going darker rather than lighter on finishing details, and even embrace the shockingly finished effect that the flattest, most basic trim offers.
Hopefully these tidbits and notations will help those who requested a second look at that spacially small but enormous detail of trims.
