Starting Fresh: Designs for a New Year (8 comments)

White walls, natural light, dark wood, and a splash of green - this shot captures all my favorite "clean" elements.

Clean and crisp can be comfortable, too. This bed looks so inviting, but also so refreshing.

This is one of my favorite Houzz photos, if for no other reason than because I love the idea of having all my spices so perfectly organized that I can stack them outside of a cabinet. They look fantastic in those little jars, don't they? Just like a brand new notebook and sharpened pencils on the first day of school. That's what the new year's all about.

I love this kitchen's perfect organization and the absolute lack of piles of mail on the counter. It certainly differs from my kitchen in that respect.

Clean and fresh can also mean repurposed and rejuvenated. This table looks like it has years of history behind it - but years ahead of it, too.

There's something about symmetry that gives me a sense of calm. I love these two stools for how balanced they make the room feel.

So simple - a little fresh fruit (or fresh flowers) add life and energy without overpowering.

Big windows - especially the kind that wrap around corners - are perfect inside adn out.

This space was designed with "Zen" in mind, but I like that "Zen" doesn't mean empty. Just organized.
