Starting Fresh: Designs for a New Year (8 comments)

Happy New Year to everyone in Houzzland!

Whether its January 1st or the start of the school year in September, I love new beginnings and the opportunities they offer. There's no better time to clean out the closets and the pantries and start fresh.

Here's a little fresh, clean, refreshing eye candy to help motivate you to do just that:
White walls, natural light, dark wood, and a splash of green - this shot captures all my favorite "clean" elements.
Modern Galley Kitchen
Clean and crisp can be comfortable, too. This bed looks so inviting, but also so refreshing.

This is one of my favorite Houzz photos, if for no other reason than because I love the idea of having all my spices so perfectly organized that I can stack them outside of a cabinet. They look fantastic in those little jars, don't they? Just like a brand new notebook and sharpened pencils on the first day of school. That's what the new year's all about.

I love this kitchen's perfect organization and the absolute lack of piles of mail on the counter. It certainly differs from my kitchen in that respect.

Clean and fresh can also mean repurposed and rejuvenated. This table looks like it has years of history behind it - but years ahead of it, too.
Skona hem
There's something about symmetry that gives me a sense of calm. I love these two stools for how balanced they make the room feel.

So simple - a little fresh fruit (or fresh flowers) add life and energy without overpowering.

Big windows - especially the kind that wrap around corners - are perfect inside adn out.

This space was designed with "Zen" in mind, but I like that "Zen" doesn't mean empty. Just organized.

This is how we should start the new year- great photos!
Thanks, everyone! Happy new year!
Where did you find the upholstered bed frames? I have been looking for one for my master bedroom and both of the bed frames you have are perfect!
Camille - both of those rooms were designed by Nate Fowler. Here's his website: http://www.fowlerinteriors.com/

I'm not sure where the bedframes are from exactly, but he does have a vendors list on his site. I agree - they're great. Some upholstered bedframes are so squishy looking, but they're perfectly tailored.
