Natural Style: Pebbles Come Indoors
Interested in bringing a hint of the outdoors to your next project? Consider natural pebble tiles. Pebbles are widely used in landscaping, but they work indoors too, adding nature's color and texture to backsplashes, bathrooms and floors.
This unique product was first created in Bali, Indonesia, where pebbles are plentiful. The stones are sorted for size and color and affixed to a mesh backing. Because the edges are interlocking, there is no visible seam when the installation is complete. Prices range from $10-20 a sheet or square foot. Check out these great ways to use pebbles in your home:

| In this luxurious bath with a Japanese soaking tub, a small pebble border adds to the Asian feel. "Pebbles bring a sense of peacefulness and Zen-like calmness to a space," says the designer of this bath, Lisa Sten of Harrell Remodeling in Mountain View, CA. |
The border is carried around the room. "The three-dimensional quality of the stones breaks up the flatness of the walls," Sten says.
This pebble backsplash is the same serene shade of gray as the countertop and floor, and it adds textural interest.
Here's another backsplash in a lighter, more contemporary bath. Notice how well it works with wood, another natural element.
A pebble border makes an unexpected eye-catching accent on the floor and echoes the lines of the floating vanity.
In this dark limestone shower, the black pebbles ground the space, inviting you to step down and pamper yourself. They feel wonderful under your bare feet, like a light foot massage!
Tip: Pebbles are an excellent choice for a slip-resistant shower floor.
