Houzz is the new way to design your home.
My family and I are about to move into the very first house we have owned... We are so excited!!!! We want to make our new home warm, inviting, and beautiful -- but most of all we want it to be a refuge for our animal friends, a fun home for us to spend family time, and a welcoming place for our friends to come and feel at home.
My family and I are about to move into the very first house we have owned...... More
wall color, reflective surfaces (fabric in window treatment), mirror, chandelier, shiny wood, gold lamp base, silver vase on top of cabinet, crystal, mirrored side table?, love the wall molding and the elegance, monotone but with metallic accents, absolutely perfect mix to me... calm, elegant, formal but intimate.
See "reading nook" comments...
Curtains going to dining room from living room; Cabinets as walls for storage and display; creating a symmetrical focal point out of the dining room; I'd love to see mirrors on that DR wall instead of a collection... maybe a buffet, maybe a different, richer color (see burnt orange DR makeover photos -- Susan Kobash?)
Wall color, cream millwork, interrupted line of wainscoting, glass reflective element (needs more, like my square mirrors or a large vintage-y mirror instead of the plate/shelf display); I would need to see more color contrast in the table -- or is this a living room or hallway idea for me?
Half-fixed French door - for all the sliding door windows throughout my home...
the wall color against the millwork... the French doors, the ceiling work, the bronze chandelier.
The paint colors and the dimensional ceiling -- but I'd change the moldings to be more traditional...
mix of upholstery styles; bench against wall with sleek lines and metallic frame; shiny table surface; chandelier; square moldings on wall giving the walls a dimensional look; elegant way it is all pulled together.
The way the built-ins blend right into the walls... And that little daybed is perfect! Even the color of the walls is great... I think that if the tall cabinets had glass doors and were against the wall of our dining room, this would be fabulous... Totally contained, and a place for good china, linens, maybe even trays?
Mirrored furniture in DR without being glitzy.
eclectic, glass table, metallic accents, wall color as a complement to grey-blue
columns and above-door dentil moulding; ceiling color as a contrast to the walls, divided by the moulding
formal, wainscoting, wall color, chandeleir, dark wood contrast
The way the cherry mirrored china cabinet looks against the paint color and the wainscoting - I'm surprised that I like it...
Built-in look of buffet
Love this color for the DR - so soft but striking w/ the wainscoting.
Dark then light color contrast repeated, including the mirrors and chairs as light and the table as dark - very sophisticated, lots of color and contrast but still neutral
Like scale of higher- backed chairs -- prefer this builder's other treatment of wainscoting: boxes painted wall color, much more elegant, to me at least...
