| INCORPORATE FRUIT AND FLOWERS. There's no doubt that plants and flowers add a freshness to any space. In living conditions that often don't permit pets, plants can be a welcomed living addition. Keep grab-and-go fruit around such as apples or clementines for people passing through and for your own enjoyment. Private Comment

| MAKE YOUR FURNITURE DO DOUBLE DUTY. Like this side shelving that serves as a desk space, use furniture that offers more than one purpose. Use a secretary desk for work and fold it up to be a pleasant side piece for when company comes. Create a living room couch with a mattress on a discreet frame and pillows thrown around like a Paris salon, and offer it up as guest quarters. Outfit a room with an armoire--take the doors off and use it alternately as a place to organize and store toys, and as a side buffet for parties or liquor cabinet for soirees. Private Comment
