The same idea is at work in this popular kitchen. We also loved the collection of simple white ceramics juxtaposed with the warm colors of the patterned rugs.

This kitchen offers plenty of places to eat, from the breakfast bar to the banquette seating in back. The large, useful island and subway tiles won plenty of admirers as well.

Users loved the lighting fixtures in this airy kitchen. Combined with the casual banquette seating, it fits right into the rustic-industrial look that's so big right now.

People liked the contrast of white cabinets with a black island. Beige walls are unobtrusive, but keep the tone from verging towards austere.

Heath tiles made a splash with our users here, along with the frosted glass cabinets.
This all-white kitchen blended big design features like a coffered ceiling with practical details (a microwave hidden in the island) that we could all use.
As an experiment I asked my 70+ conervative mum and 23 yo fashion/foodie/stylish daughter but they thought they were "before" photos. We love white, that's a given for a kitchen, but if you were trying to sell a house here they would be knocking you down on price on these, as needing to replace the kitchen!

Ds,
I was surprised, though, when Imoved into my current house which has somewhat darker natural wood cabinetry because I told the realtor that iI might have the cabinetry repainted or faux-finished in white and she gave me a funny look and said, "Oh, no, you don't want to do that! So many clients tell me not to even BOTHER showing them houses that have WHITE KITCHENS. They are so hard to sell!"
Really? I find that very hard to believe. I don't personally know anyone who doesn't like white cabinetry... but maybe I'm wrong?
By the way, i can understand what our Aussie friends mean about some of the old-timey kitchen fixtures. I love a classic look, but some of the old "country-looking" farmhouse fixtures don't really look all that chic. To me, they look a little "dated" and too old-timey - not classic, not nice designs-- even though I know they are new kitchens.
Well, to each his own, i guess....
