Ideas for Kitchen Islands
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

No matter how many tempting cocktails and food bowls I leave in other rooms, whenever I have a party, everyone migrates around the kitchen island! I figure, if you can't beat 'em, go with the flow. Today's kitchen islands serves scads of purposes - some contain stovetops, some sinks, dishwashers, storage, wine racks, shelves, baskets...the possibilities have become endless.
The following kitchens serve many purposes, but most of all, the ensure that the hostess will never be lonely in the kitchen. I hope they'll give you some good ideas for how to utilize your island. Oh, and if you want people to leave you alone while you're cooking, I suggest eighty-sixing any island plans!

Becky Harris It looks very MoMA Store to me- perhaps the designers could let you know? I did a quick google search and only found ugly baskets, WAY beautiful but expensive Alessi, and hanging bananas. I had not seen it before but it is very cool, isn't it?
