My dream house is an old barn or carriage house in the countryside, nestled between the hills and trees. I'd want it to be modernized, a bit industrial in design yet still keep the feel of the old life it once had. I am in love with the idea of a large abstract horse painting paired with a chic rug on an old, beat-up wooden plank floor. I thought it would be fun to come up with a great room design for my dream carriage house this month. — Courtney from A Little Glass Box
Fenced In Outdoor Art - $449
This painting sets the tone for the entire room. I love that it is bold and rustic and brings all of the greens, blacks and grays together. It would even make for a very fun DIY project.
Trophy Cup - $69.99
These trophies are such fun accessories. They can sit as decoration on a thick wooden mantel or be used for flower arrangements on tables.
Velvet Amelie Sofa - $2,998
I don't even know where to start with this beauty. I love the curves and the elegant feel. It would be such a conversation starter. I also think that the feminine color is unexpected in an older, more rustic-feeling space.
Dorset Trellis Rug, Dove - $899
A diamond pattern never looked so good. The neutral color of this rug makes it perfect for grounding a stunning couch and accent chair.
Rowan Pharmacy Task Floor Lamp, Antique Brass - $739
This brass floor lamp stole my heart, not only because all things that are shiny make me happy, but because it brings sophistication to an otherwise casual living room.
Parlor Curtain, Light Gray - $148
These curtains aren't bold in pattern, but they are clean lined and would make a beautiful backdrop so that you can concentrate on the views outside the window.
Plum & Bow Tufted Settee, Dark Green - $1,150
This is the perfect small seating option for a corner area of an open space. I love how the green adds a punch of color, making the room more playful.
Dutch Merchants Chest Armoire - $4,295
This armoire looks old, bold and as if it could be found in an old country house. It would be great for storage and could hide away the TV and any other unsightly items.
Structure Square Coffee Table - $899
This coffee table plays the part of the perfect couch companion. It seems like it's floating and brings a modern edge to a potentially rustic design.
Rooster 26-inch Jute Pillow, Charcoal - $132
Because who doesn't want a rooster pillow? I love that it is gray and adds another touch of whimsy.
Victorian Birdcage - $299
I love bringing something unexpected into my designs. This birdcage is so beautiful and is such a fun accessory.
Belle Epoque Antiqued Panel Mirror - $895
Mirror, mirror on the wall, you are the most fun one of all! This reflective beauty might not be very practical, but it would create some gorgeous light and bring vertical height to a room with tall ceilings.
Hughes Media Console - $2,149
This rustic guy has awesomeness written all over him. It not only can hold a lot of storage, but is another way to bring varying shades of wood into a newer version of a house set in the country.
Selma Right Arm Chaise - $1,199
The perfect chaise for lazy days — I have nothing else to say about it, except that I hear it calling my name.
Sofia Cashmere Ivory Cashmere Knit Throws - $800
I want to use one of these throws to cozy up by a fireplace while smelling a big pot of soup simmering on the stove.
Modern Weave Oversize Storage Bin, Whitewash - $89
This is an ideal storage basket. It is neutral in color and the perfect size to put in the corner, next to a chair or under a table. It can hold throws, wood for the fireplace or even boots when you come in from outside.
Six Horse Prints - $465
These prints are my favorite part of the space. They would look amazing over an entryway table or hanging by a reading chair.
Wooden Truss Dining Bench - $449
I love the idea of a bench, specifically one that looks homemade and shows off the beautiful texture of the wood. This shade of gray is calming and stunning.
Striped Accent Pillow, Pewter and Ivory - $40
A more modern stripe mixed with older-looking furniture and art makes the space visually interesting and can work nicely with most colors.
