Get your monthly fix of food, fashion and design finds at the Windy City's year-round Dose Market. Spend your Sunday browsing the modern halls of the River East Art Center as it comes alive with more than 30 vendors and dealers selling everything from artisan chocolates and cheeses to vintage eyeware and tabletop accessories. See what quirky Agent Gallery brings this month (I’m digging the quotation marks above), and what fancy menswear shop Apartment Number 9 has in store for the fashionable hunk in your life. Cost: $10 admission at the door; $8 online preorders

Afterward, get a dose of spring at the Chicago Flower Show, taking place March 10–18. See how gardeners translate high fashion into fresh display gardens celebrating this year's "Hort Couture," theme. Participate in seed swaps, potting parties, edible garden workshops and more.

Hours: Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Sundays, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

FLOWER SHOW — March 21–25, 2012
San Francisco Flower and Garden Show
San Mateo Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Dr., San Mateo, California

Whether you're green thumbed or simply have two twiddling thumbs looking for something fun to do, check out this year's San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. You can shop all day for flowers, rare plants, orchids and other offerings from more than 200 exhibitors, plus learn how to grow edibles and hear from Ahmed Hassan of the DIY Network's Yard Crashers. Celebrity chefs, including Greens Restaurant's Annie Somerville and Martin Yan will do demonstrations.

Hours: Wednesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Cost: all-show pass, $25; one-day ticket, $16 adults before March 11, $20 adults beginning March 12; free to those 16 and younger

SHOW — March 22–25, 2012
Architectural Digest Home Design Show
Pier 94, 55th Street at 12th Avenue, New York City

Get a one-on-one consultation with a top design professional or simply network with industry professionals during this year's exciting four-day event at Pier 94. More than 400 exhibits include works by designer Brent Comber (photo), tablescapes by DIFFA's Dining by Design and new home furnishings. Attend a book signing, participate in a cooking session, attend a seminar on small-space living and more.

CONFERENCE — March 20–22, 2012
WestWeek 2012

This year marks the 25th year of WestWeek, the Pacific Design Center's largest annual design industry event. Events include a talk by Architectural Digest's Margaret Russell on "Trends in Interior Photography" and a discussion about "The Rise of the Rock Star Designer" with HGTV's David Bromstad and Antonio Ballatore, Bravo's Martyn Lawrence-Bullard and Kathyrn Ireland. Scouting, Styling and Shooting for Magazines with David Livingston
