When the temperature started climbing this spring, my husband and I realized it was time to turn our attention to the outside of our house, most importantly the garage. Not only is it in need of some major repairs, but it's crying for a dose of jazzification in the form of a pergola.

Nancy Gauerke We did a pergola over our garage door six years ago to add some architectural interest to our boring little ranch house. Our goal and I think we succeeded, was to make our Wisconsin ranch look a little Nantucket. With the pergola, gray siding and blue shutters and window boxes, I think we pulled it off.
