7 Tips for Creating a Cool, Inspiring Home Office

I work from home. On most days, that means I'm working in the kitchen, with my papers spread all over the island and my laptop sharing space with drying dishes and mail.
I have a dedicated office in my house, but it's somehow evolved into a catch-all storage space. Not exactly prime creative space. I have dreams though - bit ones. One day, we'll turn the loft over our garage into a spacious, inspiring office for me (and thanks to that space, I will do amazing work).
Until that happens, though, all I can do is plan and make lists - like this one, which includes seven tips that I'll use when designing my own office:

1. Find a perfect spot. For me, it's over the garage, but the perfect office space can be anywhere, even a tiny corner.

2. Get a great chair. For some people, that means the perfect ergonomically correct specimen. For me, this red bamboo would be ideal, as I care more about pattern than comfort!

3. Make storage fun and accessible. I love this bright blue armoire - it's a great marriage of function and style.

These built-in shelves are another great storage option. Offices always accumlate tons of stuff. These little boxes keep all that hidden.

| 5. Add color. This is personal preference, of course, but I find colorful spaces extra-inspiring. |

6. Give yourself something great to look at. This gallery wall would inspire anybody - and how great are the furniture and accessories? Talk about inspiration.

If a million images is distracting, a wall of simple, calming wallpaper could be perfect.

7. Stay comfortable. A sofa in the office? Yes, please (especially if my desk chair is of the style-over-comfort variety)!

Jayne Bunce An ergonomic chair can be covered in a fun, inspiring fabric...so important as we age and as we spend more time sitting at a computer. Your photos are all lovely. The color palettes are gorgeous.
