Houzz Pets: 50 Cats Cozy Up at Home
Design-Loving Felines Have the Run of the House
We asked, and you emphatically answered. After putting out the call for your cat pictures, we received a slew of adorable felines that so desperately seemed to meow to us the public's want — nay, need — of a sabertooth-sized ideabook on kittehs in designed spaces. We aim to please. So here you are — some of our favorite cats at home around Houzz.

Who needs extra storage when you can flex your paws into a thick cushion like this?
Contributor Erin Lang Norris sent in this photo. As she describes it:
"Moonshadow perching herself on the highest object she can find, only to stare at me until I feed her. A seemingly normal occurrence."

Don't look now... someone's still miffed about that store-brand cat food you had the nerve to bring home.

But if your window lacks a spot to sit, a ledge In a LEED-certified house will work just fine.

For those less concerned with having a view, perches for passing the time can be found all over the house, if you use your imagination.
...Be they up high in a traditional setting...
... Down low in a contemporary space ...
... Or somewhere in between.
Houzz member parlourhome's Phoebe insists on being in any pictures taken around the house. Here she strikes a contemplative pose near a grid-like arrangement of blossoming art prints.
Houzz user mydstudio's cat Lulu shows her appreciation of mid-century modern furniture.
User Tricia Rose shared this photo of her cat Suscipe in the rough linen "cushion-in-a-basket" she made for her.
Outdoor cats may take a break from their busy lives of repose to do some wandering. This California cat has ample places to explore in its own water-thrifty backyard.
When the day of chasing birds and squirrels is done, it's time to find a sunny spot to rest — preferably on an outdoor sectional.

A cat's dream! When it's time to come in, a little door like this one lets them right back inside with ease. (And then back out. And back in...)
Tip: A small pet door keeps you from constantly opening and shutting (and opening) the door, and poses less of a security risk than a larger one.

How about a little feline inspiration for a roaring start to your next at-home project?
Having a furry friend nearby to pet helps the work go by faster too.

If you're looking for the cats in this picture, think more of the inanimate variety...

There they are! These cat fans let their love be known right from the get-go by showcasing it on their front porch.
For indoor cat owners, a litter box is simply a fact of life. That said, nobody wants to make it a particularly visible one. This one is tucked, fittingly, into a corner of the bathroom. The luxurious litter accommodation comes complete with galvanized sheet metal lining and its own ventilation system.
The laundry room is also a popular spot for the box. Here, it's hidden inside a cabinet for discretion and ease of access.
In user hapatxn's home the living room belongs to the kitties. "My favorite chair is now a cat bed," she says. It seems to be a common occurrence...

This guy doesn't seem likely to give up his spot in this conversation area any time soon.
Nor this color-coordinated slipcovered wingback.
User nyclq's cat Sephora finds a comfy spot for a mid-day nap on this Barcelona chair.
In fact, the living room seemed to be a particularly well-loved area by cats. And what's not to like about this white-on-white combination?

If you don't want to disappear into a matching rug, there's usually ample sofa space for curling up...

... And taking a quick 40 winks.

Even an ottoman will do the trick.

And of course, there is usually a human in there to provide a pat or two.

But the bedroom reigns as supreme kick-back space.

Where better to while away the day with an extended afternoon/evening nap...

... especially when a sun spot is on its way?
In this cozy setting with a cup of tea, I wouldn't want to leave either.
Morning already?

I'm not exactly sure if this little bed is for a cat or a dog (or an elf?), but I like it.

Once sleeping is done, it's time to head to the kitchen to see what's going on — and hopefully grab a snack.

Here's a good spot to keep a watchful eye on any movement towards the can opener.

Hmm, I've got a sneaking suspicion that you're not supposed to be up there.
Those paws are ready and waiting to jump down to a fresh bowl of food.
Patiently waiting.

Speaking of kibble, an open spot at the bottom of your built-ins is just the right size for storing those food and water dishes.

User jenn_ramage brought this naughty cat to our attention. As she tells it, "And then we have the problem child. Luckily the bird was otherwise occupied at the moment..." Glad to hear!
What is it about cats and sinks? In the case of candyce2202's cat Amberlyn, maybe it's because she fits in there so well.
Here's midmodfan's cat Mütze to send us off with a wave of the paw.

I cut a hole in the linen cupboard door (in the little hallway to my bathroom) and put the litter tray on the floor in there, out of the way. Too late I realised most people prefer to scent their linens with lavender...
It.
Kitties rule.
Love the little kitty in the basket in front of the wood burning stove!
Great pictures everyone!

I love the photo with the little "elf" bed. Not to be outdone by the kitten in the birdcage. Cats are the ultimate accessory in decorating. Snow in the basket and his sister Sarah in the collander. No container is safe unattended with a cat around.
they're the perfect model in every part of the house
and they ct like the owner of the house it makes me smile too... like you. :)
And I adore my puddins, so I am sharing too!
"And while they're watching this thing on the wall I never get any attention, so, they can just watch me!"
