Hey ladies, So I feel like I need a few disclaimers to explain how this brain works! :-) I feel like the style of the lake house is part "spanish revival" part "rustic" and from what I'm gathering..we're trying to add some part "classic contemporary". That being said, I attached various pictures with comments below them. The pictures themselves don't represent what I like, but rather represent some idea or concept that could be utilized for inspiration. And then some pictures I just thought were neat haha so I put them in too.
I personally love the style of the cabin and would try not to infuse too many modern elements because that's what makes that place so awesome...Not to mention, you can do that with furniture and decor. HOWEVER...that's just my opinion : ) I know we all have different styles which makes the end result so fun, because it's an accumulation of ideas.
Now, I'm not sure what ideas you decided on as far as the theme of the rooms and coordinating bathrooms, so don't be scared by some of these pictures! I had heard some ideas about various color schematics as well as perhaps a 4-season theme...very fun!
I also have no idea what is exactly being remodeled in the bathrooms, but just thought maybe this could serve as a starting point for inspiration as far as tile & tile design go.
This style is much more contemporary, but what I think could work is the combination of sizes, as well as the texture. Color is obviously dependent upon the color scheme of the bathroom.
The elements that caught my eye in this picture was the combination of a very clean style tile enhanced with some color pieces...you'll see more examples of this throughout.
color pop...HUGE color pop. This just serves as an example that adding in some "center piece" custom tiling whether it be on the wall, above the sink, in a shower, etc. can enhance the overall feel in a bathroom - This concept could be nice if you choose to do a color OR seasonal theme through out.
I just thought this sink was awesome in general. But the reason I included the pic was because I thought it kind of captured the feel. (granted it's a little more "elegant" than the cabin)
Okay again, I chose this picture to exemplify that choosing a really fun or interesting tile as the design piece can really enhance the look of the room.
NOT using this many different tiles, but choosing a few and then using neutral tiling to complement.
rather than focusing on color to make the tile pop - you can also chose a tile with a fun design. ...not necessarily this one, or this many, but just for the idea.
A big part of the "spanish revival"style has to do with all of the archways, the woodwork, and the brick/tile elements already there
Another part of this style as you can probably see is utilizing ceramic tiles. I wouldn't necessarily use them throughout, but in 1 bathroom or so it could be fun. This was just another example of some fun color/patterned tiles.
how's this for a stand-alone tub! I have always loved these Sarah...haha believe it or not! I will have one someday. In fact, I'm dying to refurbish the one at the cabin : )
tile combo. so this again is more contemporary, but I chose it because I liked how the incorporated the lighter tiling & the little tiles for design above the tub.
small tile pattern. Something that's also complementary to the existing style of the cabin. Depending upon color choices, etc. small tiling can be great to use for the "design" aspect or as an overall wall affect.
So...I don't like the very top, large square tiles, but I do like the several different styles of tile mixed together in a neat pattern outlined by the smaller squares
While this is a kitchen backlash design...I think it's a good example of mixing in some glass tiling if you end up doing that in the "stained glass" bathroom. it could be a really pretty accent to draw from the colors already in the windows.
quite the bathroom...but take a look at the grey tiling on the floor....i think this is a cool concept - it's like broken mosaic pieces put together. very asymmetric. i bet this would be expensive as it sounds really labor intensive matching all those shapes up.
