I author a Lifestyle/Home/Garden blog called Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com. I'm a self-confessed dishaholic with a love for creating tablescapes. When I'm not at work or "playing in the dishes" I'm working on the latest decorating project in my home, gardening, birdwatching or napping on the porch with a big lovable kitty named, Max.
Every week, Between...
Does Anyone Really Know What Time It Is? (10 comments)
Starting in your entry, a beautiful tall case clock will *WOW* visitors to your home with its stately presence. It will set the stage, telling your guests they have entered a truly special place.
by Laurel Murals
Located in an entry or hallway, clocks will do double duty, adding both beauty and functionality as they keep family members abreast of the time during those hectic week days.
by Pepe Calderin
Clocks are a natural choice in a study or library. This grandfather clock looks so perfect in this room, I'm sure they must have built the room for the clock. ;-)

Don't have room for a floor standing clock? Having trouble picking the right painting or wall decor for a space? You may want to give some serious consideration to hanging a beautiful wall clock. It will hold its own, or play beautifully with the surrounding elements.
The soaring ceiling heights in some family rooms create wall space that can be intimidating to fill. Choose a nice oversized clock...it will complete the space, while adding some fabulous style.

Here's another wonderful example of using an oversized clock face...is it not just perfect for this room?!

If your wall space is all filled, how about a mantel clock? This style clock works great on a bookshelf or console table, too.
by Camille Garro Interiors
Doesn't this clock remind you of an armillary? It shows another great way to incorporate a clock into any room, while adding a bit of panache.

Clocks aren't just for traditional decor...they will work beautifully in your open, more modern interiors, as well. Choose a clock with a simple, clean design...it will be a smart addition to those streamlined spaces.

You'll find lots of whimsical styles available for the fun, casual areas of your home, like recreational/game rooms or children's bedrooms.

Clocks come in many finishes to seamlessly fit into your decor...even stainless to go with your kitchen appliances.

Tall case clocks work beautifuly in dining rooms. I wouldn't recommend one for your bedroom unless you are a person who can sleep through a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. They do like to be the center of attention at the top of each hour!

Just for a sec, imagine this room minus the gorgeous clock? I'll wait while you ponder that... (Insert Jeopardy music here).
Not the same room is it? If you ever add a grandfather clock to your home, you'll wonder how you managed to live without one all these years. :-) Promise!

I have a French "balloon" clock on the sideboard in my dining room. (It's called a balloon clock due to its shape.) It has the sweetest, soft voice, and it always makes me smile when it chimes in with its thoughts on the dinner conversation.
Do you share your home with a wonderful clock? If so, please leave a comment with a pic attached. I'd love to see how you've worked them into your decor!

I totally agree. I am lusting for a Mora clock reproduction someday! Hopefully my grandkids won't say "What's a clock?"

No picture, but we recently got our antique mantle clock working again. It now sits on the mantle over the fireplace. Love listening to the tick-tock and chime.

I was in Little Rock, Ak at the Heifer International store and they had a wall full of clocks top to bottom. It was approximately 6 ft. wide and looked geat. The clocks were all round and different sizes. They all had darker frames.
Hi Sappho...I love mantel clocks...the tic toc is soooo soothing, isn't it? :-)
Hi Lexie, That sounds like a fun store! I'll have to Google it to see if there are any pics online. :-)

I am hoping to add a screen porch this summer. You have been the inspiration in a lot of my decorating.
Thanks, Susan

I bought this clock in an art gallery in Oregan and thought it was the wackiest clock I had ever seen. Everyone comments on it and I love it coz it makes me feel all artsy.
