I find that a tropical bathroom
will usually have a lot of natural elements like rich woods, natural stone, and colors like greens, yellows and blues. Motifs may include palm trees, bamboo stalks, and tropical flowers like hibiscus and plumerias. Another major element of tropical bathrooms is that they mostly have plenty of open space or at least a feeling of openness with large windows or even a screen door that opens out to the backyard.
A popular trend here in Hawaii and I am sure in other tropical places are etched glass with
tropical motifs mostly in bamboo. I really love the look and it’s functional because it gives the user more privacy without completely closing it off.
Another trend that I am seeing more in tropical bathrooms
is that designers aren’t using standard looking cabinetry. They look more like dressers or custom made cabinets to accommodate the client’s needs. I especially like stone countertops with a nice thickness around 3-4 inches instead of the usual 1-2 inches.
With tropical bathrooms it is all about bringing nature in and if you can accomplish that look then you are that much closer to your dream bathroom. Adding a couple of extra touches like plants
and tropical motifs will complete your tropical design.
