Big Nik's ceiling
light valence for uplighting: this is very modern but the valence idea could work very nicely in your kitchen
create beams for new electrical: you have awesome ceiling space but it (in the real estate pics at least) lacks detail or interest. adding some (fake) architectural features could really amp up the wow factor
dropped beams: not sure this is my favorite look but it's an option, your kitchen might be too wide for it to work properly
light valence more traditional: i'm really liking the valence idea, think about it
dropped tracks: these cable tracks are so light & open they don't take anything away from the space
add more detail to big open ceilings: even adding just a ridge beam to your ceiling would add some interest, not sure how it would run into the rest of the ceiling...hard to tell from the limited photos. you could create a nice carved end-cap or something
feature wall colour: love the idea of a bold colour on a limited space, adds a lot of character for just the painting you'd do anyway
contrast ceiling colour with valence: valence more like a traditional crown molding, with the contrasting colour it looks great
wall mount sconces as uplights, hanging pendants on slope: you'd have to take a closer look at where you could mount lights above all those windows...framing could interfere
dropped frame over island: i like how the dropped wood frame section over the island brings the scale down to make the work space more intimate. the rest is a bit too elaborate for your space i think...it is lovely timber work though
dropped frame over island: clean, modern version of the dropped frame
wall mounts above cabinets: like the big goose-neck lights, so much more character than ugly "basic bulder" tracks
traditional beam-contrast rustic wood with modern design: another version of the beam look
really long hanging track: this is very elegant
contrast beams with uplighting: i think doing some uplighting in your space would really be great
long hanging lightbox: in your a big space something like this could work...maybe too modern?
colour ceiling, beam & pendants: the sky blue ceiling makes a space feel so comfortable i think
modern long hanging pendant in traditional room: just about any hanging pendant can be ordered with super long cables...you just have to ask
room divider shelf/wall: i would consider putting 'something' above your fridge/closet up to the ceiling. the dead-space builders leave above closets always seems weird to me...people end up putting fake plants up there that just look bad.
LED lights in valence -read comments regarding light temperature!!: using LEDs is a great idea for energy efficiency & not having to change bulbs but they can feel 'cold' have to make sure you get the 'warm' bulbs
interesting light rail, modern with trad: love how the hanging bar runs with the ridge line and lines up with the island
contrast island colour, ceiling panels, pendants: beautiful added interest (you could do similar with moulding strips & paint, the dark blue island colour with a sky blue ceiling would be pretty fab.
big mobile pendant/art light: gentle ambient lighting but BIG visual impact. people will think you found your artistic side ;)
wall colour, beam detail, put uplights in cabinet tops/valence: simple but effective, notice the ridge beam
truss lighting: yours would be a big truss! big impact.
pot rack/hanging light over island: very traditional version of the frame/box over an island
light rail with sconces: this could work nicely where framing prohibits installing lights flush in the wall
