Back Yard Patio
I like the sconce lights on the back patio wal
I like the triangular planters
I like the retractable awnings. Also like how the bench and planter in the lower left corner help mark off an outdoor 'room'
I like the look of the pavers surrounded by grass, but this is in San Diego... would be tough to keep groundcover looking this good through Phoenix summers
Again, like the pavers surrounded by grass, in kind of an irregular/ offset pattern. This house is in Phoenix, but still wonder about keeping grass alive; not sure about artificial turf as an alternative.
Another Phoenix house. Like the lush mediterranean look, and again, pavers with grass. The landscaping on the sides of the pathway to the stairs is nice... need some ideas for what I would do w/ my backyard.
Like the zen garden in the middle of the patio... could do something like this to fill spaces between outdoor "rooms" in my yard. Also like the curtains on the patio, the roof that admits so much light (but totally different in style from what I have -- would clash with my house)
Like the colorful painting hanging on the far wall. Wondering if I could cover my cinderblock walls with exterior wall panels, and then hang something like this on the north wall of my planned seating area in the NE corner of the yard
This is something like what I want my NE corner to look like... a little room with a chiminea or fireplace in the corner, and plantings around it. I like the sage and the small trees planted against the back wall. The flagstone looks pretty... if I could retrieve the flagstone in my yard, I could recycle it like this.
I like the recessed lighting in the sides of the patio ceiling
Again, like the paving stones surrounded by groundcover
Like the boulder, lush planting around the shade tree
Like how the hedge comes out to create a room... could do this with a rectangular planter, too -- create a feeling of extension (like with the hedge here) by planting similar plants in the planter as along the walls.
Love the pattern of the pavers here. Also, like the way the corner patio is raised, and the planters that frame the entrance. Hadn't thought of this for my NE corner, but it might be nice... would create a little more spatial "texture". Also like the lush landscaping.
Like the modern lines and different textures. for the strip on the N side of the house, could do something similar: pavement or pavers along the side of the house, and then an equally thick band of contrasting rock between the pavement and the N wall. Like the contrast in both texture and color btw the pavement and gray river rocks.
Besides just thinking the architecture of the house and wraparound balcony/stairwell are cool, I like the permeable paving to the side gate... instead of paving stones "planted" in grass, this looks more like grass spots planted in pavement. Maybe for strip on S side of house?
I love the border plantings, and the bench around the fence gives a much more defined boundary to this little "room"
I like the contrasting flooring materials (concrete surrounded by bands of planks; contrast with pavers)
Wow! I love this... very modern but also whimsical, with lots of contrasting textures and colors, but still looks harmonious. I really like the strips of pavement alternating with gravel, esp with the little succulents peeping up! I like the contrasting materials in the walls and bench. The plantings are beautiful!
I like the plantings around the gravel paths
Love the lush plantings that define this space... nice shade trees
I'm noticing how the little "island" of cacti in the middle of the pavers works because it is balanced by the placement of the hot tub and big planter... something to think about if I'm going to have little areas of plants defining pathways or spaces in my yard
Cool fountain! Striking shape and especially color
I like the vintage fireplace and blue table
