| The arrangement of this accent tile is so smart. The shape mimics a colorful painting on a white wall in a gallery. Because the designer opted for a clear glass shower separation, it can be enjoyed from anywhere in the bathroom, and makes the room seem more spacious.
Tip: Want to use this strategy but have a shower curtain instead of a partition? There are clear shower curtains on the market, and they are easy to clean. |

| This simple stripe of square tiles goes all the way around the room. It adds just enough color and variation to keep things interesting, without overwhelming this minimalist clean white bathroom. |

| This powerful textured tile in variegated shades is so strong that one wall of it is plenty. |

| Here the accent is used at the top of the stall. It gives the illusion of looking beyond the white tile to the sky. |

| Two stripes in the shower pick up the same tile used in the fireplace surround. How luxurious is that? |

| Here one simple line of accent tile connects the different areas of the bath to one another. A tile with a rhythm like this one really stands out in a narrow stripe.
Tip: This is a great way to make the most of a more expensive tile. Very few square feet will pack a graphic punch. |
| This solid area of accent tile (two adjacent sides and the ceiling) clearly demarcates the shower, instead of letting it fade into the background. |

| This person had some fun arranging these circular accent tiles in the shower and over the sink. Now "Everyday is a Winding Road" by Sheryl Crow is stuck in my head!
Are you thinking about using tile as an accent? |
We will finish up our renovation next year with the master bath and I've been occassionally pondering how I want it to look. We are going to rip out the fiberglass bathtub/faux tile eyesore and install a walk-in shower with glass door. After seeing some of these pics, I love the idea of using a colorful higher-end tile, floor to ceiling, on just the one back wall of the shower. Lots of great inspiration here!
BTW, Happy Birthday!

these are some beautiful suggestions.
Then we used coordinating pebble on the floor.
So it's cool to see how many people do this instinctually. Thanks for creating such a great ideabook.
This is one of my favorite tricks to make a bath look more lux, even if your budget is low! I have attached a few pics of some baths I have designed and completed for one of my clients who is a builder. He wanted me to design the baths more sexily than a standard build home, so that even in this economy, it actually would SELL!!! Even though they didn't want to spend a ton, we used a strip of angelic tile in the middle and surrounded it with economic, price pleasing options. These plain tiles are the majority of the bathrooms, but hey quickly disappear when the main attraction is laid down! Love it!
