Spring is in the air all around us. How do you go about bringing that feeling into your home so it's as light and airy inside as it is outside? First you want to make sure you do your spring cleaning and then you want to add some flowers and floral decor to your interior design.
There are many different ways to bring flowers into the home. Fresh flowers in a great vase can go almost anywhere in the house. Floral prints on furniture and floral wall paper in the right rooms can add a nice springtime effect to your home. And of course you don't want to forget to landscape outside as well particularly in areas that transition from outdoors to indoors such as your back porch.
The one thing to beware of with this type of home decorating is that you don't want to overdo it. Too many flowers can end up feeling suffocating. Stay minimal, simple and bright with your design and you should find that your home feels sunny and warm.

One terrific way to add fun flowers to the decor of a space is to hand-paint the flowers onto your walls. This is especially great in kids' rooms where you can feel free to be creative and to have fun with the experience. Do small patches of painted flowers as seen here rather than covering an entire room in a floral design.

Floral wallpaper is an area where you can really go wrong if you choose poorly but you can definitely use it to brighten up a room if you are smart about your choice. Use wallpaper on single walls in small rooms and make sure that the rest of the decor around it is minimal so that you don't shock the senses. Modern floral patterns are usually a better choice than stuffy old floral patterns although a good vintage design may work in some homes.

Here is an example of how too much floral wallpaper could be overwhelming to some people although others would love this design. What I do like here, however, is the repeating pattern that we see in the tri-fold screen. Done in a quieter way, I would really enjoy this approach to floral design.

This is a terrific example of a place where vintage floral wallpaper works. Even though the wall is big, the design is so quiet and subtle that it feels more like the beautiful opening of a rosebud than the overwhelming scent of an bouquet. The additional plants here reinforce the beauty of the decor.

The fireplace is a terrific place to set a bouquet of flowers, giving the area some function and focus even though you don't need to build a fire in there anymore now that it's warm. This is a great design that actually has a built-in spot for flowers to be stored but of course you could set a vase atop a mantel as well.

Don't forget that you also have the option of just adding some floral artwork to your home. This is a terrific way to go since it brings spring in to your house easily but also allows you to easily put spring away when new seasons are upon us.
