Tailor-Made Suites By Brian Dittmar Design Inspired by British menswear, Brian Dittmar designed a chic and sophisticated bedroom suite that felt as put together as a well-dressed Englishman. The sleek steel bed was custom designed by Paul Benson, and the foggy grey lamps are from Avrett. Artwork: Tyrell Collins

Antique and modern accents pay tribute to tailoring. The globe is an 18th-century sewing table, and the framed piece above is a shirt made out of a folded map of London. Dittmar designed custom bedding and pillows to conjure the crisp look of ties and pocket squares. Artwork: Elisabeth Lecourt

From show house to your house: If you're stuck in a decorating rut, try playing with a theme in one of your bedrooms. It can be something bold — like a sports-theme kid's room — or something more subtle, like Dittmar's design. But by giving yourself a path to follow, you'll have less trouble deciding on what pieces to use.

Bathroom
By Ma(i)sonry
The amazing art installation in this bathroom is by artist Michele Pred, who uses airport-confiscated scissors and knives in much of her work. The design team worked with Pred to create a specific installation for this space — a bathtub full of silver scissors snagged by the Transportation Security Administration.

From show house to your house: Repurposed finishes and fixtures lend texture to this ordinarily smooth and bland space. A bathroom is a great place to take design risks, because smaller spaces can pull off looks that often look overwhelming in larger rooms.

Master Bedroom
By Heather Hilliard
Most homeowners want their bedroom to be calm and serene. Designer Heather Hilliard stuck with this idea when designing this smooth and simple master bedroom. A subtle striped wall adds visual interest with white and off-white stripes, and an upholstered headboard matches perfectly.

The light palette is broken up only with flashes of off-white and navy, and a bit of color over the fireplace. A sculptural fireplace screen becomes a functional piece of art.

From show house to your house: Painting stripes is harder than it looks. Take your time measuring and taping off each section — it's worth it to prevent bleeding paint and crooked lines later on. Try following the tip in this piece and paint the light base color before the dark stripes.
Upstairs Powder Room
By KCS Estates
This bathroom used the home's classic architecture as inspiration for the shape and style of the elegant mirror. The curving shape of the mirror softens the straight lines created by the vanity and bath; it cuts away to reveal detailed wall tile from Walker Zanger. Polished chrome and marbl adds a touch of traditional style.
From show house to your house: Look for different mirror shapes or a bold frame to add instant style to your bathroom without any remodeling.

Guest Bedroom By Matt Murphy Studio Designer Matt Murphy wanted to create a luxurious space that guests would never want to leave. That means a supercomfortable bed with Frette bedding, a soft chair by a warm fire, a space to write notes and letters and a window seat for lounging.

From show house to your house: Put a little extra thought into your guest bedroom. Don't force your guest to have to tiptoe out into the kitchen or office in the middle of the night — bottles of water, paper and pens and a few good books are thoughtful additions.

Guest Bathroom By Tineke Triggs, Artistic Designs for Living The lavender and gold in this bathroom reflect the color palette of the guest bedroom just outside. Designer Tineke Triggs installed artistic accessories from Arteriors, Michael Taylor and Witford in metallic hues to carry the color throughout the room.

From show house to your house: Sconces make a big difference in bathroom lighting, because overhead lighting is often harsh and unflattering. If you're redoing a bath, consider installing sconces on either side of the mirror for a softer and better-looking reflection.

Jack's Bedroom Kathy Geissler Best Designer Kathy Best created this room for a fictional ninth-grade boy with a thirst for adventure. The room has space to store all of his special belongings and treasures. A soft wool headboard warms up the room, and a balloonlike lamp adds a splash of playfulness.
From show house to your house: Storage is key when it comes to kids' rooms. Hooks help keep messes up and off of the floor and give kids an opportunity to show off their favorite belongings.

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Love the balloon lamp, that is so fun for kid's yet very sculptural and elegant. I can see that in a fancy LR just as much as a kid's space.

Casart Coverings Stripes seem to be "in", which makes us very happy! What a harmonius, soothing environment Heather Hilliard created for that bedroom with the stripe continuing right across the headboard. We did a demonstration at High Point spring market of an easy stripe installation with Casart's Karen Robertson Collection stripe and illustrated how the strips/stripes could be combined in various colors, widths and even crisscrossed. Note in the second picture that the vertical stripe has been applied across the top and side of a table to continue the vertical design. In the 3rd photo, the white stripe is applied to the tan wall.

stargazer51 Well, these rooms are certainly better than the "living spaces." I can't imagine anyone being able to live in those rooms. Hideous.

steve2426 Love all the rooms - so inspiring!! Just love the wall papers. And the irregular mirror overlaid on a tile wall in the upstairs powder room. Who is the maker of the bedside table lamps in the master bedroom?
