Landscape Ideas
I like the idea of making back yard paths by cutting the lawn shorter with the handmower. This pic shows how much contrast there is between long and short.
Excellent rockwork in this rainwater harvesting system
Too many grasses?
Trying to figure out if I like bare ground or grass right up to the trunks of trees in the back yard. It is definitely more work to keep the ground clear, but it is probably healthier for the tree
An example of tree rounds used in landscaping
Gorgeous use of rock, stone, and gravel
Geraniums in hanging baskets don't quite cover the pots, but would be OK as long as the pots looked good
It looks like making an area of gravel for backyard chairs and the umbrella would be OK as long as there is lots of surrounding greenery and lawn
Graceful pathway. Even the negative spaces surrounding the path are graceful
I used to really like these carved granite balls - they have them at Northwest Landscape Supplies in Burnaby, but lately I have wondered whether I have an appropriate place for them. They definitely have to be in the 'right' situation to look good
Good view of blue river rocks - these are all quite similar in size
Great colour combination. Using white and no yellow with these blues, gives a very clean look
This rock arrangement works - something to do with the direction the rocks face. I have a rock similar to the big one here
Interesting layering of hedges, borders, containers, and plantings
No! to rocks these colours - brown, beige, red, gold
Yes! to these rock colours - white, blue, grey
Great pathway
A curvaceous backyard border
Flower bed with tree next to house
Naerum Allotment Gardens, 1948, Denmark. 40 oval lots 80'x50' (golden ratio), separated by common area lawn. If only co-housing could have envisioned something like this.
I like the combination of gravel and pavers, the grasses, and the chunky arbour
Great colour combination
Note the use of bricks on their sides as a border on this flower bed
Wow!
Dry creek
Grape Hyacinths grown en masse
A meandering path
Interesting landscaping in a long yard
I like the planter the tree is in
I like this use of boxwood under single-stemmed trees.
Very controlled-looking, but still attactive
Could do this kind of landscaping along the driveway
An inviting fire-pit area.
I hope the written description of this comes with it to my ideabook.
Lilacs trimmed to a single stem?
