This is a nice neutral pallet to which we add pops of soft colors like blues and blue-greens: water tones with maybe an accent of a coral such as a bowl, lamp or flowers.
Ceiling only: geometrics can be fun on the ceiling too. This could be accomplished with plaster such as this ceiling or there are great wallcoverings in geometric patterns that could be applied to a ceiling, such as a powder bath, that would be great looking.
Striped rugs like this one are fun to add to spaces like laundry rooms or mudrooms.
Another way to get soft color into a neutral room is to paint cabinetry in soft blue or blue-grey tones. This can be done as shown or just the interior backs of open shelving.
This is an image of a soft blue-grey painted in the back of a bookcase. It is also great looking to use a grasscloth in the back of cabinets. There are really pretty natural ones as well as soft blue tone ones. That also adds a little texture in addition to soft color.
It can very attractive to add some darker wood pieces to a neutral room too. That adds a pop without being a color.
This shows a geometric pattern neutral colored rug with a smaller pattern on drapes. Mixing patterns is interesting to do. Also the white wash bookcases are a very beachy look

This is just a cool kitchen in general. Several things are fun about it: The flat boards on the ceiling that add a modern "coffer" feel, glass cabinets that cover the windows, 2 islands, fun light fixtures, stainless steel hood, full marble backsplash.

This is a beveled subway. We looked at this tile at one point. It gives a little more texture than the flat ones.
Lori: this is a penny round mosaic on the floor. The penny rounds were on the same board as the little white hex mosaic. The two look similar when installed.
