Providing a stylish AND comfortable seat for your guests is the easiest way to ensure a triumphant dinner party. Often times chairs are super sleek in appearance but aren't remotely comfortable. I think for a chair design to be successful it needs to be both beautiful and functional, meaning you should want to sit in it for more than 3 minutes.
There are a multitude of elements to consider when purchasing a dining chair. Number one: The sit test! Is it comfortable and designed with the human form in mind? Number two: Is it sturdy, will it hold up well to use and to spills? Number three: Is it stylish, graceful, and beautifully designed?
Gorgeous space! Modern dining chairs can also be comfortable -- pay attention to the scale and proportion. These are nicely curved in the back, which is much better than chairs that have stick-straight backs.
I love the lucite combined with French linen seats. 10 out of 10 points for style, 6 out of 10 for function: The table apron/twig detail looks a little low for legs to squeeze under.
Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel I've got a question. I live in my studio and entertain by cooking. I need dining chairs which are comfortable and either stackable or foldable, so that I can compress them when I have large projects. Any recommendations? Are the counter height tables and their higher chairs more comfortable for long dinners?
Niche Interiors Laurelmurals - I would stick with standard height folding chairs. Something like these from Ballard Design. The cane seat and back are more comfortable than standard folding chairs, and they are sold with optional seat cushions. Best of luck!
kambaird I love the chandelier in the first dining room. Would you have details on it-manufacturer, source etc or even what style I would use to describe it as I conduct my search. Thank you
otroyansky I have an 8 by 8 space in my living room for a dining room table....I want a round table, but am being told that a square works better for the space bc a round table takes up more space. What do you think? I'de like a 48'' table that expands to seat more people
