While flipping through home design magazines, I'm often discouraged by the master bedroom inspiration. The looks are often heavily designed and don't seem to fit in with my casual lifestyle. My husband and I have five children, and a few of them still make their way into our room some nights. It doesn't make sense to have loads of furniture, pillows and expensive art strewn about to get tripped over.
The other day while searching for ideas here, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of gorgeous casual bedrooms. I've picked my favorites and can't wait to share with you what I learned from each one. These ideas can all be implemented into real spaces. Let's get started!

Although I mentioned not wanting to buy expensive art to get tripped over, I have no problem with it being displayed on the wall. The piece shown in this image is so gorgeous and really sets the mood for the room.

Nightstand space comes at a premium. Books, clocks and phones all vie for room.

| Bedding is expensive, especially once you find the perfect duvet, pillow shams, throw pillows and so on. What I learned: Keep the bedding simple and splurge on great fabric for curtain panels and a few throw pillows. |

What I learned: If you have a table that's an appropriate height to be a nightstand and goes with the room, use it. Even if it's a rectangle.
