Imagine the couch as black, but bringing in rich colors in pillows, accessories
you can see that wallpaper adjacent to your room would look cool
Simple updates with geometric pillows, some softer looking things, blur how harsh a black leather couch can be alone
This has a lot of rich wood in it, that you seem to have though yours may be a bit darker
geometric drapes are cool, I think

Texture softens the look, both the rug and the pillows
Fuchsia would be a cool juxtaposition with your black. I chose that one fuscia wallpaper, remember, for the entry. Also, with this palette you can see the golden color of your walls would work. Sort of funky but cool, creative!
Animal print pillows on leather
another animal print mix with leather, hmmmm
Flip this picture around in your head. The black of the walls would be your couches, the poppy drapes, the poppy wallpaper in your entry, the gold tone couch the wall color. Nice how you could mix in that persimmon color to tie together
Another thought process. Black couch with large print damask, looks modern instead of formal, as you consider your entryway
You also need more art, cool to frame the Texas flag!
See how fabric, color softens the leather

She has a lot of oak furniture that she mixes with primary colors in a handmade Mexican art way that lightens the look of the room and furniture. Makes it more playful, I guess. I sort of remember you being drawn to primary colored things when we shopped once.
