| Is that an Expedit? It sure looks like one. I don't know how easy they'd be to paint, but matching the bookcase color to the surrounding walls makes it look like a custom piece. |

| The open shelving works great as a room divider, and provides easy access from both sides. For a little more separation, follow this designer's lead by covering some of the openings. |

| Branch out from just books. These three Expedits house plates and tableware (among other things), all easily accessible from the dining area. |

| A few neat rows of books are checkered with a few doors (presumably to hide not-so-neat items). |

| The shelf looks wonderful against a brightly colored background.
I love how the white frame above mimics the colors below in this photo. |
| A low-profile line of the shelves work as a sideboard or TV stand. |
On that note, I noticed that the 8th picture in this ideabook is actually 3 Expedit shelves, not 2 like you mentioned. It's two 4 by 4s and a 2 by 4 in between. ^.^ Quite a creative use of them, I must say. Especially if you don't want your shelving as tall as the 5 by 5s would be.

Thanks for the insipiration, lilydylan!
One question. Should they be anchored to the wall somehow or are they sturdy/stable enough on their own? Thinking of making some kind of wall unit to house the tv in the basement with them.
Brilliant idea book thank you!
I believe the Expedit comes with anchoring equipment to stabilize the piece to the wall. Probably would be best to use it, especially if you have small children at home. :)
