summerrose We just completed a remodel and used chalkboard paint in our kitchen (pantry door inserts) with a magnetic primer underneath so we also use the space for important notes, etc. We love it and there is something about the black chalkboard against the white cabinet that looks so classic!

Dena Contributing a suggestion... if a blackboard is too casual for your kitchen style, apply chaulkboard paint on the INSIDE of your pantry door - a very convenient location, and guests are not affronted by your shopping list. (Undercoat of magnetic primer: optional.)

Sabrina Newell I love chalkboard paint. I did a post on my blog about it in all areas not to long ago. Here's the link if you're interested: http://loulousucre.blogspot.com/2011/01/chalkboard-paint-yes-or-no.html. Also, decals are great. If you use chalkboard markers, make sure not to leave them on too long or they will not erase.

zoeann67 This is perfect for a game room...the black/white contrasts, the chalkboard walls, the lights....like the pic's on the wall...I would have used black n white family photos...and the blue on the pool table....could be too much..unless you have 'accent' peices in the same color

Sonja Hilliard, DVM The photos are of the Royal St. Kitt's Marriott Golf Course my husband constructed in the West Indies where we met, which overlook blue waters and the shade of blue for the pool table felt came directly from one of the hues in the water of one of the photos.
