Character: Hannah Horvath Current style: Quirky vintage Hannah's apartment shows her love of all things crocheted and preloved. It's peppered with interesting finds, likely all from the Brooklyn Flea or sidewalk castaways that turned into DIY project. Pieces include mismatched dining chairs and a growing collection of refrigerator magnets threatening to place her visually busy space under siege.

Future style: Vintage modern In 10 years, Hannah will find her writing stride and probably become one of the top female screenwriters of her generation. I see her living in a bungalow in Los Angeles' Silverlake or Los Feliz neighborhood, continuing her daily journal practice and working out of her living room sitting area. She still reaches for the same midcentury modern colors (burnt orange, sage, brown) but can afford a few modern iconic pieces.

Character: Marnie Michaels Current style: Undefined and confused Marnie's decorating style is nonexistent; the apartment she shares with Hannah has Hannah's quirky vintage imprint all over it and is filled with tchotchkes and items that contradict Marnie's serious art gallery job and and oppressively composed character.

Marnie's signature piece in the home: Abstract art. If she stares at it long enough, she catches a glimpse of her happy self.

Character: Shoshanna Shapiro Current style: Preppy and feminine Pink is the accent color of choice, and symmetrical decor placement is paramount (so is shopping for items at Target and West Elm using dad's emergency credit card). "Shosh" already gets bonus points for choosing X-stools and a damask block-printed sofa, her way of showing us that she's got some design chops underneath the fleece and peace signs of her Snuggie.

Character: Jessa Johansson Current style: Bohemian Jessa is crashing at Shoshanna's New York University studio and technically without an apartment, so I have to take her design cues from her fashion: long, Eastern-influenced robes, flowing hair, eclectic jewelry and layered clothing — all telltale signs of bohemian chic.
AND Charlie is totally the design trojan horse of the group! That studio was totally like Michael Pozner's efficient apartment by Jordan Parnass Digital Arch:
Here it is again for those who missed that ep. Happy viewing this MDW!
