"Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions,” said Pablo Picasso, one of the most famous painters of modern times. One of Picasso's many periods was the Rose Period, from 1905 to 1907, when his paintings featured cheerful pink hues, likely inspired by his relationship with girlfriend Fernande Olivier. He used her as a model in many of his pink paintings that reflect the changing emotions of young love.

sconzonire Charmean, I adore pink... I especially love the blush and pale pink hues. However, these colors are so feminine... Is there any way to infuse this color into a shared bedroom without making it too girlie? Please advise!! Thank you- Stacey

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi Stacey. That's a great question. I would suggest moderation like many of these pictures. Also, if you are going to use pink, even blush tones, then combine with other elements that are the opposite. For example, consider dark furniture that has straight lines and modern detailing. Take a look at the room with the piano by Shirley Meisels. There are three things that are pink in the room, rug, lampshade and pillow. She chose to combine these pink details with a modern glass table with straight legs, a modern-lined sofa, and other beige/brown tones. The result is a balanced room that doesn't feel overly feminine. Also, take a look at the DR by Marco Dellatorre. This room has salmon pink walls and sharply contrasting furniture that is dark and modern, with clean lines. Again it strikes a perfect balance. So often as a designer if you say the word pink it can make a client think girlie rather than bold and beautiful or subtle and elegant.

ae2ga I have never been a fan of pink, but you've given some lovely examples of how pink can be a color not at all assosciated with overly girly, too sticky sweet, omg what were you thinking. I really like some of the tone and tone pink - very lovely and peaceful, and pretty. Pink - who knew.
