I'd like to see larger rugs under the DR table & the rolling cart, but that's the closest thing to criticism I can muster. Kudos also, for keeping this 1200sf house true to its roots. This looks very comfortable to live in, improve upon, AND maintain!

The built-in bookshelf is lovely.

lg1247 very charming-love the colors - however the rugs are too small under the dining table and island. And the wall to wall carpet - I was surprised to see that.

Cabana Home I appreciate that they want to do a good job. Keep trying, and youll get there. You have to try first, like you did here, and kep perfecting your look. Buying interesting pieces like the dining table and chairs are a good start.
I know its a rental, but you could easily improve the window coverings in the Dining room by removing the metal blinds and installing fabric or natrual woven blinds.
Consider fewer small accessories and focus on larger and better things- quality or quantity.
Think about art; if your on a budget, consider posters framed betwen two pieces of glass!

lkmcgregor The house itself is lovely. However, I'm surprised to see it featured on this site due to poor interior fashion. The scale of multiple items is just not right, with the rugs being the most obvious. I really do love this house though, and I wish I could rent it!

Whitney F Kind of reminds me of how I lived in college. A great start, with plenty of time to hone and refine. I found the tiny little rugs under the dining table and kitchen island somewhat disturbing - scale / proportion so off. I imagine they constantly catch the legs of the dining chairs on the edges of the rug.

woolylam I am always amazed when I see a title of "colorful" describing a home and I see all beige or white walls with just a few colorful things in each room. Definately not my idea of being "full of color", more like colorsome, not colorful.

mimikt I'm really surprised at so much criticism. The house is lovely - light, bright, pops of great color, a mix of pieces, eclectic! No, it's not done by a decorator or interior designer; it's very personal and it's about displaying things they love. I appreciate that HOUZZ is featuring small homes furnished affordably; it gives inspiration to those of us looking to design on a budget. Thanks!
