We've broken ground on our home-office renovation. What I'm most excited about is the nook we're creating for a built-in desk and shelving. I love to tuck things away, so a built-in streamlined desk nook is the perfect solution for us.
A clutter-free work surface is high on my priority list, so we're outfitting the nook with wall sconce lighting. Mounting desk lighting onto the wall allows for more open desktop space.
Whether two sconces frame the workspace or a centered sconce anchors it, wall lighting in an office feels appropriately library-like. One may also consider choosing an articulating fixture, which allows for task-light adjustment, a welcome option in a workspace setting.

aeykelbo Nice collection... I love the formality and elegance of wall sconce, and their utility of a swing-arm in a work space. The first room is great, but a cord dangling down the wall is a distraction (and can be caught by passerbys), so it's a good idea to take the trouble of running them behind the wall or a piece of furniture. For example, I notice that the first room doesn't have any book storage; one or two half-height shelves might usefully add to the room without ruining its clean open atmosphere.
