Whoever said you cannot successfully mix business with pleasure obviously did not know San Francisco-based interior designer Scot Meacham Wood. It was during a casual dinner with friends that a conversation about paint colors for the couple's Presidio Heights condo evolved into a full design project for Wood. The twosome, a Ralph Lauren stylist and a chef/restaurateur, wanted a home that catered to their classic design aesthetic and love of entertaining.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Wood about outfitting this fashion-inspired home, his recipe for creating drama in a small space, and his interesting use of a apparel fabrics. Here's an ideabook you don't want to miss.

| Wood chose menswear — classic, refined and tailored — as the catalyst for the home's decor. A handsome collection of solid and pinstriped toss pillows, along with a vintage bearskin throw, adorn a beautifully aged leather sofa from Restoration Hardware. | "I wanted this home to be both inviting and glamorous," says Wood. He combined a mix of seating options and drapery panels constructed from men's apparel fabric with a pair of chrome etageres by Ralph Lauren, a glass chandelier, and a pair of polished chrome table lamps.

| For the master bedroom, Wood created an intimate atmosphere with Benjamin Moore's Gray 2121-10. Its dark hue makes the walls virtually disappear. The room is anchored by a custom headboard upholstered in men's suiting fabric with polished chrome nailhead trim. "Reflective surfaces infuse the room with luxury," says Wood. He credits a crystal antique chandelier, filigree silver tray and mirrors with bringing elegance into the space. |

A former guest bedroom now serves dual function as a dining room/study.
Measuring only 10'x12', four light sources illuminate this room: a pair of sconces, one buffet lamp and a black drum pendant light from Ikea.
When entertaining guests, this study instantly transforms into a stunning dining space for four. An emphasis on circular forms appears in the curved banquette and the round table, while billowy drapery panels bring softness back into the setting.
