Houzz is the new way to design your home.
This is general idea. LIke the scale and shape of pillars, but would want them on the outside of the existing raised patio. Like the criss-crossing and scale of boards, but would want more of them so that there is more shade on patio. Would plant grapevines at base of pillars.
Not enough beams, and do not like the curved endings. HOwever, it might be helpful to build out form existing roof so that pergola is higher and views from inside the house are less restricted.
I like the stone posts, but stuccoed cinder blocks would also be nice. Which would be best in terms of longevity/maintenance and in terms of price? Plan on planting grapevines, does this influence decision?
too sparse, would want more slats, but like the idea of staining them and also staining existing benches in complementary colors.
slats too thin
is a fan possible?
Shade FX makes retractable pergola covers. Keep in mind that this might be an option if the grapevines don't work.
i can live with aging wood on top, but not on supports, so the stone support makes sense.
like the stain color, would do something complementary for the benches.
in addition to a fan, lights would be nice. Not sure of style, this is not the style we'd choose as we do not have enough height for these.
it's possible the shadows would drive us crazy. Would we want to put on shades if the grapevines don't provide the coverage we need?
Ignore this picture. Just enjoying the bermuda look!
proportions are all wrong here...will we have same problem?
If pergola came off the roof, it would not obstruct inside to outside views.
