I love this room and it's got it all - intense color, multiple patterns, and lots of stuff. I think it's got balance, too, though, because the intensity is equal on multiple points (like the teal and the orange - they balance each other).
I like how this room balances multiple patterns without feeling overly crowded.
In this room, there is a lot of detail, but it's not overwhelming thanks to a neutral palette.
This room's got a lot of contrasting elements - art, rug, flowers. From far away, it actually looks a little messy, but close up, everything has it's place.
One way to make maximalist design work is to confine it to small areas - like this little vignette.
I like that this small space is filled with bright and tall things. I think the natural inclination is to go minimal in a small space, or "cozy" and overstuffed. This does neither and it works for me.
This room is full of risks - the combination of the rug and the wallpaper and the tons of pillows is fantastic.
This room is full of pattern and activity, but the colors are so soft and the light's so great that it almost feels understated.
I like the way the multicolored pattern here is balanced by other patterns that focus on individual colors.
