Begin by wrapping your flour sack towel around the piece of cardboard. You'll want the center section of the towel to be exposed. The cardboard helps protect your work surface and will keep the paint from bleeding into the other layers of the towel.

Using the painter's tape, create line sections on the towel. Make sure the tape is secured to the towel firmly.

Tip: It helps to carry the tape over the work surface, securing the towel and cardboard to the table so they can't move around.

Once you've made a pattern with the tape, mix two parts acrylic paint to one part fabric medium in the small mixing bowl.

When you're done painting, remove the tape carefully. You do not have to wait for the paint to dry to remove the tape. Allow the paint to dry completely (usually a couple of hours), then heat set it with an iron.
