I love Limelight Hydrangeas...these are sort of like those and on a retaining wall which I like.
The border of plants
I love red or great fall color trees.........
all of it....colors design, etc
I like grasses as long as they are not invasive - I don't want to be managing that all the time...
Steps - not formal but not messy....
the wall around the patio area that has seating built in to the top of short wall....
I love birdhouses and have one that could be out on a pole in the landscape somewhere.. I am sure I could find more.
the array. and blend of colors - gorgeous!
If we have to have a path to the steps leading to the backyard, I like this..it is not obvious. I do not want people walking back there without invitation....privacy is very important to me.
can I say enough about hydrangeas?
beautiful Entrance/welcoming to home
Old fashioned flowers (Hydrangeas, rubeckia, coneflowers, daisy, etc.)

love tulips - especially pink/white for grey sided house. Like large groupings....
yew - like the fact that you have color all year long, especially in front of home....can be decorated in winter with lights, Like the round, the box, and upright triangle shapes.
Like spruce trees for privacy and snow/wind blockage on that side of the home where drainage area is..
plants that are good for the edge of the pond, that will hold back runoff, etc.
