Made Up Design Word of the Day: "Bedscape"

The first time I ever heard the term "bedscape," it was uttered by Sir Jonathan Adler on "Top Design." (Yes, I have knighted him in my head and thus he now gets a "Sir.") Anyway, as someone with a degree in Landscape Architecture, I was getting really annoyed by people adding "-scape" to so many words (It also annoys me when random project managers of databases or waste management or whatever say "I am the ARCHITECT of this project" but that's a complaint for another day. I think it's because all the coolest characters in movies and TV are architects). However, back to "bedscape" - I have to admit it is the perfect way to describe the arrangement of a variety of pillows, throws, duvets, coverlets et. al. on a bed.
Sometimes people WAY overdo it. For example, it cracked me up how Ben Stiller had to carefully arrange his eighty million throw pillows in an armoire in the movie Along Comes Polly. If it takes you more than two minutes to make your bed accessible for actual sleeping, that might be a sign that you are overdoing it. For some, the absolute minimum makes up a bedscape, and they risk winding up on the Unhappy Hipsters blog. Here is a sampling of those that fall in the middle, in the "just right" category of bedscapes. Please Enjoy!
P.S. In writing a post elsewhere this week, I made up the words "trayscape" and "barscape." I guess I am guilty giving in to adding "-scape" to everything now!

At first glance the entire color palette of this room looks SO simple, but after a minute of studying, I can see how carefully thought out it is. The long thin blue bolster is the focal point that ties it all together. I'm also excited that the "casually tossed handbag" is not a $15,000 Hermes ostrich bag for once. Have you ever noticed in magazines that it's always a Kelly or a Birkin that costs more than most cars just "casually tossed" in a bedroom?

This one is getting dangerously close to requiring Ben Stiller's armoire, but I would love to sleep in a bed that's made up like this. It's so cozy yet light. I think the fact that so much of it is white keeps it from going overboard.

If we overdo it are we scapegoats?
Love your "bedscapes" and glad you addressed the silliness of design terms. The one word that kills me is "space" for the word "room" used frequently by HGTV hosts and guests; just say ROOM, not "this space." HA!
