Thanks to a recent trip to Legoland with my family, my son and I are now obsessed with Legos. First, you need a creative and organizational way to store them. And second, if your child really does love playing with them, why not bring them into the decor of the room? Here are a few imaginative ways to decorate and accessorize your room with a Lego-inspired design. — Andrika from Nursery Notations

Thank you for this article. I wanted to add that I found myself frustrated with storage issues for models that my boys have constructed and wanted to protect and for all pieces floating around. I ended up adding shelves to their closets. I also went to Home Depot and picked up some hardware (nuts, screws, bolts, etc) plastic drawer storage pieces. They are lightweight. The kids can move them from room to room and had so many drawers they were able to organize them in many different ways we spent some time making piles on the bed and floor to figure out drawer sizes and how many drawers we would need. This process was entirely up to the kids. They organized them and wrote it down for me for the labels. It was great to see them concentrate and work so hard on this. I took a trip (without the kids!) to the HD and found them on sale for only $10! The children love them and they can be mounted to the wall if necessary. I chose this size (see link below) because the kids can easily carry them around from room to room or take them onto the floor. Had I purchased the larger size, that would have been challenging for my youngest son. We are definately a lego family!

Our problem, though, was that my son has a small room and lots of other collections, too. So, a few years back, we removed the bottom mattress of his bunk bed and added lighting and shelves/containers around the perimeter. We left the middle of the "bed" open as a giant workspace. It's not beautiful, as it's covered in on-going projects and bricks, but it's functional and keeps them off the floor (mostly).
Even w/ the foot bruises and storage problems-- I think Legos are the best toy ever invented!
