Florals. Growing up in Texas, my mind naturally reverts to a sort of eighties country red-white-and-blue-long-live-the-republic sort of aesthetic. Yet, why? Florals in decor have been around since at least the Renaissance, appearing in everything from manor tapestries to rosebud gown embroidery. In every stage of history, from William Morris to flapper socialites to flower children to the latest Anthropologie chair, florals have appeared and have brought dwellings not only a hint of nature itself, but new life.
And, whether in design or the material through which they are displayed, florals never recede out of style and elegance and plain fun. These photos show the unusual usage of florals in beautiful spaces.
