The Low-Cost Fabric is Prime Fodder for a Weekend Project

Sounds like an oxymoron. The nubbly brown fabric has never been much of a looker, and yet... I'm strangely drawn to it. It provides texture, goes with pretty much everything, and best of all, the price is right. So what to do with a fat quarter of the stuff? I'm glad you asked. Here are a number of projects for around the home that bring the best out of burlap.
Because it's so inexpensive, burlap is a great choice for larger projects — like, say, upholstering your walls.
For an easier upholstery project, a bench is straightforward enough even for most novices. I like the combination of the delicate frame with the more rustic burlap here.
It's almost time to take your seedlings outdoors. If there's still a nip in the air, a square or two of the hearty fabric can provide some extra warmth for those fragile plants.
