Guest Picks: Summertime Warmth
The day my best friend in second grade wore a hot pink headband to school, I declared that pink was my new favorite color. Then in middle school, my first crush wore an orange hat to the school dance, and I boasted that to be my favorite color! In a nutshell, the hues I’ve always gravitated towards fall in the warm family, from oranges, reds and yellows to shiny gold and antique brass. At the same time, my home is decorated in everything but that color palette (think: minty green and navy). And I’ve found myself craving some of those warm, cheery hues from my past. Here’s a roundup of color just for fun, all in my favorite shades of yore, which happen to be perfect for the summertime! — Kim from Yellow Brick Home
Fiberglass Shell Chair, Side Shell, Dowel Base DSX, Pink - $335
This is a fun, colorful twist on a classic style. Of course these would be extra sweet in a nursery, but as a kid at heart, I'd love one (or two) in my home studio.
Branch Lighting, Brass - $155
The heavy, solid brass of this fixture is an easy way to incorporate some natural warmth into your home. I'd love a pair of these in the bedroom, one for each side of the bed.
Saturday Morning Mug, Yellow - $10
This cheery mug just screams, “Rise and shine!” Not to mention, that’s a healthy dose of coffee.
Moroccan Pom-Pom Wool Blanket, Pink Stripes - $198.45
There’s not one thing I don’t love about this blanket. The vibrant fuchsia, the pom-poms — it’s all so good!
Wide-Rim Bowls, Black/Blush, Set of 4 - $50
This muted shade of pink isn't overly sweet; and paired with black, it's a winner.
'Strawberry Sprinkles' Donut Print - $15
Scott and I first stumbled upon The Donut Shop at a local art fair, and we couldn't purchase a pink donut print fast enough! There's a variety of flavors to choose from, and we think they add the perfect touch of whimsy to your home's decor for any age.
Mint and Geranium No. 003 Candle - $28
The scents of mint and geranium immediately conjure up warm summer memories (mojitos by the garden, anyone?), but I especially love that this company donates 10 percent of all profits towards animal rescues.
Summer Triangles Throw Pillow by Her Art - $20
A punchy pillow combining all my favorite colors in one, this is sure to brighten up an outdoor space!
'Spread Joy' Print - $20
Scott and I like to sprinkle affordable prints around the home where ever we may need a pick-me-up. This one is perfect for an office, a kitchen corner or a guest room.
Eric Orange Grid Stool - $94.99
A small pull-up table like this works indoors or out, and it pulls double (and triple!) duty as end table, extra seating or place to prop up your toes.
'It Was Always You' Print by Ashley Goldberg - $20
"It was always you." Simple.
Diamonds Throw, Coral - $79.90
I'd love to throw this vibrant shade of coral at the foot of the bed, over a chair or rolled up on the couch. It's great for layering over the covers as the weather starts to cool, but still lightweight enough for cuddling under by the bonfire.
Agate Bookends, Set of 2 - $99.95
These agate bookends ooze understated sophistication, lending a subtle touch of natural charm to your space.
Acapulco Chair, Pink Weave On Black Frame - $398
Imagine this hot pink chair with your giant pom-pom blanket. Done.
Viv Wall Hooks, Set of Two - $38
I'm loving the subtle gold-brushed finish on these wall hooks. This duo would be perfect in a small entry or for hanging towels on your bathroom door.
Float Coral Air Balloon Throw Pillow - $54
I've been seeing hot air balloons pop up around the web a lot lately, and this pillow pays a subtle ode to the trend. It's sweet, but not overly so.
TPS Pink File Cabinet - $159
I've been crushing on this pink filing cabinet for far too long, and I'm thinking I'll need a pair (or three) in the home studio. After all, organized surroundings make for a more productive work day, right?
Focus Placemat - $9.95
These floral placemats would bring a burst of color to your garden party! They'd also be fun to mix and match with solid mats.
Recycled Wine Punt Tumbler - $9
These recycled wine bottles are a charming golden hue and a great conversation starter to boot.
