An Atlanta native, I spent several years as an editor for Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine before making the leap to national publications and websites such as Houzz, Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Accents. Don’t get me wrong — I’m not a music Luddite. I think iTunes is right up there with the greatest inventions ever, and the Shazam smartphone app, which can identify a song you don’t know by simply listening to it, has radically changed my listening habits.
But you know what I think is a shame? The advent of digital music has meant a big demise in album cover art — for my money, one of the best parts of old-school vinyl records, tapes and CDs. Fortunately, these gems are getting new life as personal, affordable artwork. Check out the ways these homeowners incorporate them — and, in some cases, their contents — into the decor.

I am so stealing this idea for my son’s room. Selectively chosen album covers make great kid-friendly art, and you can clue your tots in to the music you used to love as a kid (that Michael Jackson “Thriller” cover would be on my must list).

ME, TOO! I miss the images that captured the eras. Love my iTunes, too, but actually enjoy and treat myself somewhat regularly to the sound of the arm lowering itself onto a record with a little crackle. The anticipation in those seconds before the music begins: lovely! LOVED this ideabook!!
