Just Some Favorite Bathroom Sinks

Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected." I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

My friend Marci and her family just purchased a wonderful, rambling, shingle-style home on the Massachusetts coast; one of the original "cottages" that the rich fat cats from Boston would ferry out to on the weekend. She asked me if she should consider keeping the upstairs sink (bottom photo, you can't miss it!) or if I knew anything about the style. While I don't know anything about it, I love it, and once that mess is gone I think it will look great.

This got me thinking about other sinks I have admired. While I love a spare modern look, I'm also a sucker for vintage. Whether you're nuts over pedestals, or require a lot of storage, are squeezing it into a small closet of a powder room, refuse anything but undermount, dream of marble, or need one to rinse housepaint brushes in, there are scads of stylish sinks to choose from these days. Here are a few that caught my eye.

Do you have a unique sink in your house? If so, upload and share please! I'm off to find a picture of mine; it's an antique icebox dropped in the top.
This is a unique double sink with a striking vintage look. I especially love the contrasting black on the bottom.
This big block of a sink fits in so well with the rectilinear geometry of the tile pattern and vanity.
The side cubby area on this sink is ingenious. It keeps necessities tucked away and readily available.
This wall mounted sink is a space-saver in this tight bathroom. The crisp white color and mirror give the illusion of a larger room.
This petite pedestal sink is a space saver in this small powder room.
The cabinet floats and hides pesky pipes and bathroom necessities. The pop of red keeps things interesting.
I like the vintage feel the turquoise color gives this modern counter and sink.
I'm noticing a pattern here; clearly I'm drawn to unexpected color on counters and/or vanities. I love this bold blue in this otherwise sterile bathroom.
You really can't beat copper pipes for quality, so why not show them off and add a coordinating sink basin?
Great Stems! I love the sculptural quality of this sink stand.
This is my own downstairs sink - it used to be an icebox. Now that I look at this picture, the bathroom is looking a little cluttered; I may tuck away that brush and can underneath after seeing this.

Becky Harris Little Sunshine, thank you, I love that one and I just added it to my favorites. I had not come across that picture before, and I'd never seen that sink before!

Becky Harris P.S. Marci's future home is looking a little Grey Gardens right now. Apparently the owner was in such a hurry to get to his Florida home that he left the jam jar open on the counter...

maven If your friend decides to part with that double pedestal sink, drop me a note. That style is one of my favorites!

groveth Becky - Do you know the sink brand from Great Britian with the blue writing below the faucet hole? I cannot find it anywhere, even via google. Thanks!

Becky Harris groveth, is it in one of the pictures above? The only blue logo I can think of is on a Shaw's sink, which I think is now part of Rohe? It's a blue logo edged in a diamond shape.
