Next month, Kevin and I are heading to Tybee Island, Georgia for a very exciting adventure. We write a feature called "Guest My Nest" on our blog, and we're going to be staying at (and reviewing) not one, not two, but THREE fabulous seaside homes while we're there.
We'll also be meeting up with one of the masters of seaside-inspired design, Jane Coslick. I'm looking forward to photographing some of her fantastic renovations and to hearing about all the work that went into the places we see.
So, since I've got beachside bungalows on the brain today, I decided to assemble a collection of photos that showcase rooms that each have that certain beachy charm I have grown to love so much.
Each of the rooms pictured here have elements that would be very simple, and inexpensive, to replicate if you like the look.

Designed by Jane Coslick, this kitchen is one of my all-time favorites! Adding the bright blue screen door to the pantry was a great way to bring in a bit of the beach.

Grasscloth Wallpaper is a fairly inexpensive way to instantly add texture, reminiscent of sea oats. You can find faux grasscloth at most home improvement stores for even less than the real stuff.

Karen My bungalow has "told me" that it is actually an ocean beach cottage (even though it is nowhere near the ocean!). Your inspiration got me to make the driftwood sailboats for my mantle. Needless to say, my bungalow is so pleased that I listened to it! I have tried to attach a file of the pic so you can see how excellent it all turned out. Thanks for the inspirations!

Becky Harris I love Jane Coslick! She's done SO MUCH for preservation here in Georgia. I think I always had her in the back of my mind when I was helping my mom decorate that little Cape Cod house pictured above. Can't wait to see all of your pictures - I'm very jealous!

geri I just love the feeling of a warm sunny day, the sound of the waves on the sand, and the smell of the fresh spring air. Layla, all your pictures have captured this. I love, and try hard to capture the same feeling in my home. I know you have nailed it in yours too Layla. Can't wait to hear all about your trip to Tybee Island. We are trying to get there this spring. Love the homes for rent there. Yeah for you.

malipri Love the screen door leading to the pantry. Trying to decide if I would want to be able to see in my pantry all the time ?? Have a very old solid door now that swings, but I leave it open almost all the time anyway. Just sayin'

debmama24 I love all the pictures! I dream of a beach house one day close to the sea. The first picture, that kitchen, oh tdf! But also love the relaxed look of the photo with the table and the basket beneath with the pillows and sneaks. So breezy!
