Go Bold with Black and Yellow
Buzzz: Black and Yellow Aren't Just for the Bees
Besides white, yellow's connotations are about as far away from black as you can get. Whereas black calls to mind night and darkness, yellow recalls the sun and light. Juxtaposing the two contrasting shades in one space is bound to make a striking statement — so much so, that many of us might assume it would be too loud for our own homes. But while some of these rooms prove the duo can be dramatic, just as many show that they can do more than just drama. Try black and yellow in a coastal-inspired room, a traditional kitchen — even a nursery, for a fresh mix that will turn heads (without causing whiplash).
All black is sophisticated, but can be a tad cold. Warm it up with a few prints in the color of sunshine.
